About Us

Up Itchen Books is an independent publisher based in Southampton, England. We publish three lines of books, in English and German: Wonder Bourn for Christian families, Cipher Cracker for puzzle fans, and cookbooks for home cooks.

Why the name

The River Itchen runs through Southampton on its way to the sea, and it's full of life. Walk up it and you'll pass water meadows busy with wildlife, including the common kingfisher you'll see in our logo. Those walks have been a source of calm and ideas for our founders, especially in the middle of a project. When it came to choosing a name, the river was the obvious choice.

What we aim for

Whatever the subject, we aim for quality, fresh ideas and good value in every book we publish. Since our first books came out in 2024, readers have bought thousands of them, and we're grateful to each one.
